A Habitable Dwelling

Low-income Alabamians have long faced the challenge of finding a decent place to live. The rising number of foreclosures, tighter underwriting standards and the erosion of credit are likely to make that situation only worse. ACPP works to improve state policies affecting low-income homeowners and renters. In 2006, ACPP helped design Alabama's first landlord-tenant law, defining a habitable dwelling and spelling out the rights and responsibilities of the state's landlords and more than 500,000 renters.
